Manifesting Cool Shhhhtuff

I have always wanted a Gibson Firebird. First time I laid eyes on this guitar was in the Pretender video with David Grohl rocking his Firebird.

The shape and style drove my dopamine crazy. I HAD to have one. It didn’t matter how I got one, I just had to figure it out.

Then, those dreams died.

What actually happened

I got married and took the safe route.

I’m not blaming marriage on what happened. I chose not to prioritize my love for guitar and stuck with my Epiphone Special that my brother bought me when I was eight. That guitar is special in its own way, but that’s for another day.

I didn’t even play that much. College, work, new born, & wife were my life. There was a lot and I figured it would be juvenile to continue building my skills in that area.

As you know, life never really turns out the way you think it will.

I changed my degree and got divorced. My life was flipped upside down.

The Change

Shortly after my divorce, I decided I was going to do more fun activities. This led me back to the guitar.

I purchased an Ibanez S7 and got a teacher. It was time to really get into what I wanted to do.

I practiced every day and worked hard on being the best guitar player I could. I then laid eyes on the Firebird again. They had an Epiphone (value model) Firebird, but that wasn’t enough for me. I craved the Gibson one.

I didn’t have enough money to get one, but for some reason, I truly felt it was time to get one. I didn’t know how, but I was going to figure it out.

It Happened

I just walked into the store and placed my order. I had no idea what I was doing, but knew it was going to work out.

Later that month while I waited for it to be shipped in, I got a raise and was able to pay for the guitar. It was no short of a miracle. I even had enough left over to buy a nice case for it.

What I learned about manifesting

Manifesting items into my life has been a weird journey. I don’t think it’s the voodoo that people label it as. There is power in looking at a goal and saying it is going to happen. Here are some lessons behind the scenes to give some context.

• I worked my ass off to get a new position. That’s how I got the new job.
• I practiced the guitar all the time. I showed myself that it was important to me.
• I worked with people to figure out a way to afford it. My brother was essential in this process.
• It doesn’t happen overnight. I had to wait for years for this guitar to come into my life.

It’s not all about making wishes and a genie comes out to hand it to you. It’s about pouring your soul into a desire and working for it. Nothing will happen unless you are dedicated.

That’s when the magic happens.
